YCT to be offered in August

The Confucius Institute will be offering the Youth Chinese Test (YCT) on Saturday, August 24 at 9 a.m. on WMU's campus. There are four levels of the YCT and test takers should select the level that they wish to take when registering (cost varies with level).

Meadowbrook students visit Chicago Chinatown

The Confucius Institute at WMU recently took a group of approximately 100 participants to Chicago Chinatown for a day of culture and fun!  Students from Meadowbrook Elementary School in Forest Hills Public Schools attended with their families.  The day included a historical and informational tour on Chinatown, which included stops at the Nine Dragon Wall, the Buddhist temple, the historical Pui Tak Center and more, a Chinese lunch at Cai, a popular Chinatown restaurant, a Chinese kite painting activity, and free time to explore Chinatown's many gift shops, bakeries and grocery stores.  Students were able to practice their Chinese with Confucius Institute staff, local tour guides and at a few other locations throughout the day.

Registration for HSK is Now Open

Registration is now open for HSK at July 21, and will close at July 11.  Levels II, IV and VI will be offered starting at 9 a.m. on test day, and levels I, III, and V will be offered at 1:30 p.m. in Brown Hall 2037  WMU's main campus.

The 2nd Chinese Paper Cutting Workshop

The 2nd workshop on the ancient art form of Chinese paper cutting will be hosted by the Confucius Institute at Western Michigan University from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, in Brown Hall Room 2037. The workshop includes a brief presentation about the history of paper cutting and a hands-on opportunity to create a window decoration cut from paper.

Chinese Paper Cutting Workshop

A workshop on the ancient art form of Chinese paper cutting will be hosted by the Confucius Institute at Western Michigan University from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, in Brown Hall Room 3030. The workshop includes a brief presentation about the history of paper cutting and a hands-on opportunity to create a window decoration cut from paper.

The workshop is open to the public free of charge; registration is required. To register, scan the QR code below or send an email to: wmu-confucius-cc@wmich.edu. Please include your name and the number of people in your group planning to attend.
